On this, my 38th birthday, I felt an instinctive urging to surround myself with beautiful things which have withstood the tests and torments of growing old. I bundled up, packed my camera gear, and headed out for a peaceful morning of reflection and appreciation of things made better by age as I explored centuries-old flint churches whose grace and beauty were evident despite the passage of time.
St. Nicholas' Church, Feltwell, Norfolk: built in the year 689
St. Peter's Church, Hockwold, Norfolk: built in the mid-14th century
All Saints' Church, Wordwell, Suffolk: built in the year 1100
